Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Fresh Map LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Fresh Map," "we," "us," or "our"), operates a local food discovery platform. We are based in Florida. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at hello@freshmap.app.

2. What Data We Collect

When you create an account:

• Your name and email address
• Your password (stored encrypted — we never see it in plaintext)
• Vendor type interests you select during signup
• Whether you opted in to marketing emails

When you use Fresh Map:

• Search queries and filters you apply
• Vendor profiles you view, and how long you stay on each
• Other actions on vendor pages and in our list and ordering tools — for example, saving a vendor; clicking through to a vendor's website, phone number, directions, or social media; building a cart on the Order page from a recipe or a list you type; or following a link to a vendor's or food hub's own ordering page with your list or cart
• We record the activity above as usage events. When you're signed in, those events are linked to your account; either way, they carry the random visitor and session IDs described in Section 6
• Your device's location, when you let a feature use it (your browser asks your permission first) — Section 7 explains how it's used; we don't store it on our servers
• An approximate location (roughly your town or region) estimated from your IP address, which the home page uses without asking you — Section 7 explains how; we don't store it
• If you're signed in, the lists and carts saved on our Order page — lists you save, carts you mark as favorites, and past carts we keep for you after an ordering week closes — sync to your account so you can see them on another device
• For each vendor you save, like, or follow while signed in, we store your account ID, the vendor's ID, and when you did it — never any free text. A follow also records whether you've turned on email notifications for it, which is off by default and not used yet. Saves you make while signed out stay in your browser on that device, and are added to your account the next time you sign in on it

When you submit a vendor listing request:

• Business name, type, email, phone, address, website
• Food standards and tags you describe
• Your submission is stored and reviewed by our team before any listing goes live

When you submit an email on the homepage:

• Your email address

3. How We Use Your Data

• To create and manage your account
• To build the For You section of your profile from the vendors you follow, the vendor types you're interested in and, if you've shared it, your location
• To send you a weekly "What's Fresh" newsletter, if you opted in
• To notify you when new vendors join your area, if you signed up on the homepage
• To keep the vendors you save, like, or follow tied to your account, private to you, and available wherever you sign in
• To show a vendor's total like count on its page — we never show who liked it, not to other visitors and not to the vendor
• To improve Fresh Map based on how people use it

We do not use your data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

4. Marketing Emails

If you opted in to marketing emails during signup, we may send you a weekly newsletter with new vendors, seasonal food news, and Fresh Map updates.

Every marketing email identifies us as the sender and includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by updating your account settings or emailing us. We honor all opt-out requests promptly, consistent with the CAN-SPAM Act. We do not send you marketing email you did not ask for.

5. Who We Share Data With

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not "sell" or "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Because there is nothing to opt out of, there is no "Do Not Sell" to enable; we nonetheless honor recognized browser opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control.

We use the following service providers to operate Fresh Map, and they receive only the data needed to perform their function:

• Supabase — database and authentication
• Vercel — website hosting
• OpenFreeMap — supplies the map tiles for our map view; your browser loads them directly, so it sees your IP address. If OpenFreeMap can't be reached, the map loads from MapLibre's demo map server instead, which also sees your IP address
• Unsplash — hosts some of the photos on our pages; your browser loads them directly, so it sees your IP address
• Resend — transactional and marketing email delivery
• Loops — keeps the mailing-list contacts from our homepage email signup: your email address, plus the ZIP code, the site that referred you and the page you signed up on, when we have them
• Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics (Section 6 has details)
• Upstash — short-lived rate-limit counters keyed by your IP address, so we can block abusive bursts of requests
• Cloudflare — runs a bot-check (Turnstile) on some forms; it may see your IP address
• Anthropic — if you give the Order page a recipe link and we can't find an ingredient list in that page's structured data, we may send the text of that recipe page to Anthropic to pull out the ingredients; never your name or account info

Once vendors can claim their own listings (a feature we're adding), we may show a vendor who has claimed theirs aggregate counts of views, clicks, and saves for that listing. We will never tell them who did those things.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

5a. Business Transfers

Fresh Map may be involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of some or all of its assets. In such cases, your personal data — including your name, email address, food preferences, and opt-in status — may be transferred to or acquired by the successor entity as part of that transaction.

We will notify you by email and/or a prominent notice on Fresh Map at least 30 days before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy as a result of such a transaction. Your data will continue to be governed by the privacy policy in effect at the time of transfer until you are notified of any changes.

6. Cookies, Analytics & Do Not Track

Fresh Map uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies (including your browser's local storage). They fall into two groups:

Essential — needed for the site to work:

• A sign-in session cookie from Supabase, so you stay logged in as you move between pages
• Local storage on your own device keeps the list of vendors you've saved. When you're signed in, it's a copy of the saves in your account, and signing out removes that copy from the device. When you're signed out, it holds the saves you've made on that device, which are added to your account the next time you sign in there. Each save is also recorded as a usage event (see Section 2)
• If you tap Like or Follow while signed out and then choose to sign in or create an account from the prompt that opens, your browser's session storage keeps a note of that tap until you close the tab. If you finish signing in and come back to that vendor's page within an hour, we complete the like or follow. The note is cleared if you come back to a vendor page without signing in, or when you sign out, and after an hour it's ignored
• Session storage remembers, until you close the tab, that we've already suggested signing in after a save, so that suggestion appears only once
• Local storage also keeps the cart you're building on the Order page, on your device only. Lists and carts saved on the Order page sync to your account when you're signed in (see Section 2); when you're signed out, they're kept in local storage too

Analytics — helps us understand how Fresh Map is used:

• A random visitor ID kept in your browser's local storage, and a session ID kept in its session storage until you close the tab. We attach both to the usage events described in Section 2 so we can understand how Fresh Map is used across visits. Neither contains your name or email address
• We use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (for example, one named "_ga") to measure things like how many people visit, which pages are popular, and the general region visitors come from. This shows us how Fresh Map is doing in aggregate — we do not use it to advertise to you, and we do not sell the data. You can read how Google handles information from sites that use its tools at Google's partner-sites policy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on every website using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party marketing trackers. Because our audience is in the United States and we neither sell your data nor track you across other websites, we do not display a cookie consent banner — but you can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, and the site will still work for browsing.

Do Not Track. Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Because we do not track you across other companies' websites and do not sell your personal information, there is nothing for these signals to switch off — but we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out where one applies, and we will not override the preference your browser sends.

7. Location Data

Some features ask your browser for your device's location — for example, Near Me on search, the map, "Use my location" on the Order page, the help panel's "Enable location" button, and a vendor's page, which uses it to prepare directions. Your browser asks for your permission first. We use your location to sort and filter vendors by distance, to center the map on you, to find the food hub that serves your area, and to start directions from where you are. To find your hub, your browser sends your location to our server, which uses it for that lookup and does not store it. When you open directions from a vendor's page, your location is included in the link, so Google Maps or Apple Maps receives it to plan the route. We do not store your precise location on our servers. When you share your location through Near Me, "Use my location", or the help panel, your browser keeps a copy in its own local storage, so the Order page and the For You section of your profile can use it without asking again — that copy stays on your device. Near Me still gets a fresh location from your browser each time you use it. You can deny location access, or clear it, at any time through your browser settings.

The home page never asks for your device's location. If your browser hasn't already kept one from the features above, it asks our server for an approximate location instead: our host, Vercel, estimates one from your IP address — usually only to a town or region, and not at all accurately if you use a VPN — and our server passes that estimate back to your browser and does not store it. Your browser uses it only to choose the nearest town with listings for the "Local favorites near…" heading.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption of passwords and access controls through our service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever experience a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by Florida's Information Protection Act and other applicable law.

9. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile, or by emailing us at hello@freshmap.app (see Section 10); we complete emailed requests within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your sign-in details, your profile, your saves, likes, and follows (a like you made stops counting toward that vendor's like count), the lists and carts saved to your account, and the homepage email signup we store under the same email address, if you made one. If that signup also added you to our mailing list at Loops (see Section 5), email us and we'll remove you there too. If you have a vendor account, deleting it also removes the business details and updates saved to it and any requests to claim a listing; it does not take down a public listing for your business, so email us if you want that. Past usage events — the records of things like your searches and the vendors you viewed, saved, or clicked through to — are not deleted: we remove your account's ID from them, so they're no longer linked to any account, though they keep the random visitor and session IDs described in Section 6. If you accepted our vendor terms, we keep the record of that acceptance, including the email address and IP address used, without your account's ID. We may also keep data we're required to retain by law.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and the data described in Section 9
• Opt out of marketing emails at any time

Depending on your state of residence (for example, under California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights. We extend the core rights above to all users. To exercise any of them, email us at hello@freshmap.app, and we will respond within the timeframe required by law. You can also delete your account yourself from your profile. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

11. Children's Privacy

Fresh Map is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on Fresh Map. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated.
