How Search Works on Fresh Map

Fresh Map doesn't rank vendors by star rating, popularity, or how much anyone paid. You type what you care about, and matching vendors surface on the map and in the list below it. Here's what's actually happening when you do that.

You type it, we match it

Search is a single text box, not a set of filters to click through. Type a food term — "grass-fed," "organic," "no seed oils," "pasture-raised" — or a kind of place — "farmers market," "CSA," "u-pick" — and Fresh Map checks it against every vendor's own tags and basic details. The match is the same for everyone who types the same thing: nothing here is personalized, and nothing is AI-ranked. It's a direct, repeatable lookup, not a recommendation engine guessing what you'll like.

Where a tag actually comes from

Every tag on a vendor's profile started somewhere specific — the vendor's own website, their social media, a public listing, or something they told us directly. Nobody on the Fresh Map team tastes the food, walks the fields, or checks a kitchen before a tag gets attached. A tag is a record of how a vendor describes itself in public, applied so you can search by it.

What a tag is not

A tag is not a certification, and it's not Fresh Map independently confirming anything. If a vendor's own materials mention a real third-party certification — something like "USDA Certified Organic" — that's the vendor's claim, sourced to their own page. Fresh Map didn't inspect the paperwork; we're pointing you to who did, and where they said so.

It's also not permanent. A vendor's practices can change after a tag is added, sometimes before anyone catches it. If something looks off, use the report link on that vendor's page.

Typing "grass-fed" into search right now pulls up every vendor currently tagged that way — on the map, sorted by distance once you share your location, and in a list underneath. The same works for any other term. There's no separate page to find first and no filter to remove afterward — just the search box.
